China to eliminate 4.23 GW small coal-fired units by end-2015

China planned to phase out 4.23 GW outdated small coal-fired power generation units by the end of the year, said the National Energy Administration (NEA) on July 28.Northern Hebei province was ordered to eliminate the most capacity of 752 MW, followed by central Henan at 720 MW, northwestern Qinghai at 631 MW, and eastern Jiangsu at 527 MW, said the NEA.Units with construction yet to complete, have no operation record since January 1, 2013 or with waste heat and pressure recycled would not be included in the elimination list. Units with capacity of more than 300 MW would not be eliminated in principle, said the NEA.
